What information should I know in advance when operating the conveyor joint?

Sep 13, 2019

Everyone knows that the conveyor belt is a closed-loop conveyor belt, so there must be a joint. Generally, for the conveyor belt, the joint wear is relatively more, so the joint fracture will occur during the use of the conveyor belt. The only thing that needs to be done at this time is to reconnect the connector and continue to use it. So what information should I know before operating the connector?

      1. Why is the conveyor belt joint easy to crack and break?

The strength at the conveyor belt joint is lower than that of the normal belt. Generally, when mechanically connected, the strength of the joint can only reach 40-50% of the strength of the belt. When the quality of the cold glue is better, the strength of the joint can reach 60-70%, and the strength of the hot joint can reach 80-90%. The joint method is correct and there is no quality defect). Since the strength of the joint is relatively low, if the bonding method is not correct, the strength of the joint will be lower, such as when the knife is opened, the next layer of cloth is damaged, the polishing is excessive, the length of the overlap is insufficient, the number of steps is insufficient, and the joint is glued. The performance of the rubber used is not good or has been caused by sulfur failure, excessive wire rope grinding, rusting of steel wire rope, etc., and the strength of the joint part will be greatly reduced. When used, the joint part is easily broken.

In addition, if the conveyor belt does not use the sealing glue, or the direction of the glue joint is wrong, the joint part is prone to cracking (face glue part).

      2. Why do you feel that the joint is harder than other parts?

The process of vulcanization of the conveyor belt is actually a process in which the vulcanized rubber continues to crosslink. Since the vulcanization requires heating and pressurization, and it takes a relatively long time, after a relatively long time of vulcanization, the hardness of the vulcanized rubber is increased, so that the joint portion is harder than other portions.

      3. How is the length of the joint determined?

The length of the joint is generally determined according to the variety of the material of the conveyor belt, the number of layers and the effective width of the vulcanizer. The length of the joint is made as large as possible while satisfying the effective width of the vulcanizer, and the requirements of the problem 4 are met. If the machine length cannot be satisfied, it can be vulcanized with two vulcanizers and treated with relevant materials at the intersection of the two vulcanizers to ensure a smooth transition between the two vulcanizers.
